FAQ
- Does converting HEIC to JPG upload my photos?
- No. The file stays in memory in this tab. A WASM build of libheif decodes HEIC locally, then the Canvas API writes a JPEG. There is no conversion API and no storage bucket.
- Why do iPhone photos open as HEIC on Windows?
- iOS saves High Efficiency Image Container by default. Windows, Gmail, and many CMS tools expect JPEG. This page turns the still image into a .jpg you can attach or upload elsewhere yourself.
- Will JPG look worse than the original HEIC?
- HEIC is more efficient at the same visual quality. Use the quality slider: 90 is a sensible default for sharing; 95–100 is closer to archival. The pixels are decoded once, then compressed as JPEG — there is no extra server recompress.
